Understanding Uprisings

Study day led by Georges Didi-Huberman and Sara Guindani

Saturday 03 December 2016 • 11:00 AM

Jeu de Paume – Paris

This study day will look at the theme of “uprisings” in both the political and aesthetic senses of the term. Sociologists, philosophers, economists, political scientists, psychoanalysts and historians will be invited to talk about the ways in which images can arouse collective emotions and to consider contemporary issues such as the representativeness of political gestures, the circulation of images in the “globalised” world and the power of these images to create new spaces of mobilisation and to inspire revolt in new populations.

Study day led by Georges Didi-Huberman and Sara Guindani with Pierandrea Amato, Alain Bertho, Maxime Boidy, Ilaria Bussoni, Mathilde Girard, Jean-Louis Laville, Frédéric Lordon, Marielle Macé, Perrine Poupin, Sophie Wahnich and Michel Wieviorka.
